Earth Pavilion
Stone desert to the Atlas horizon
Nine Earth Pavilions stand apart from one another across the camp's low hill, each built by Marrakech craftsmen from rammed earth, palm wood and canvas. The walls hold the day's heat for the cold desert night; the roof opens over the bed for sleeping under stars.
There is no glass and no screen — openings are shuttered with carved cedar, and light comes from candles and low brass lamps. It is the most elemental accommodation SOMA offers, and guests describe the sleep here as the deepest of their lives.
